This image was a year in the making from a forest woodland in Worcestershire. I first came across this composition in the summer months where I immediately had this vision of a dark mysterious photograph with the two birch trees in golden autumn colours standing guard.
It is one of those images where everything had to perfectly align to realise my vision and during the Autumn months I visited regularly when there was any sign of mist forecast. The problem was I got the mist I hoped for on several occasions but the two birch trees were very late to turn and whenever I arrived their leaves were still green and the image needed a touch of gold to bring the composition together.
Finally on a winters morning everything aligned and I managed to catch the last of their golden colour complete with mist before sunrise.
I called this image “Guardians of the forest” They shall not pass.
